Laurent Gautier
Vice President, Translational Data Science
Laurent has been working in data science applied to biology, drug discovery, diagnostics, and healthcare for over 20 years, with experience ranging from molecular biology to patient clinical data and administrative claims. At Valo, Laurent leads teams using in silico methods to accelerate drug discovery and development using human data reflecting clinical practice, molecular and cellular level measurements, as well as in vitro models of human diseases.
Prior to Valo, Laurent worked at Sanofi on data strategy for digital healthcare and digital health intervention for diabetes, and on the use of artificial intelligence/machine learning with clinical data across the lifecycle of drugs. Before Sanofi, he worked at Alphabet’s Verily in data science and software engineering, focusing on the practical use of clinical data to support actors in healthcare. Laurent also spent time at Eli Lilly in discovery and at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research where he worked on methodology across disease areas, and built machine learning models for a breakthrough cellular therapy for the treatment of leukemia. He was a core member of the group who collaboratively created extensible software for computational biology and bioinformatics through the Bioconductor project.
Laurent holds a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark and a diplôme d’ingénieur (B.S./M.S.) from the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon, France.
